So the other day I accidently used too much shampoo in the shower. I didn’t even think anything of it, but my head and scalp were irritated and itchy. I noticed a few flakes and so I decided that today I would pamper my scalp and get everything back on the same page.
It was lovely. I love having days like this. And now my head and scalp feel amazing. No more flakes. And I’m back to having gorgeous hair!
Wanna know what I did?
It’s super easy and it’s safe. And chances are, you probably have what you need right in your cabinets.
First, I got a little olive oil and before my shower, I dipped my fingertips into the olive oil and I rubbed and massaged it into my scalp. I made sure to really get my scalp, I didn’t put the oil all over my hair. And then, I put a plastic bag on my hair, tied it, and then got a wet hot towel (I just used really hot water) and I wrapped it over my head and the plastic bag and I let it sit for about 30 minutes.
Next, I got a small cup of sugar and took it into the shower with me. I rinsed the olive oil out of my hair and then dumped the sugar on top of my head along with a dime-size amount of Beautycounter’s shampoo and I lathered my head and scalp.
Think body scrub for your scalp.
I was a little worried as I went to rinse out the sugar and the shampoo because my hair felt sticky from the sugar, but I made sure to rinse very, very well, and then I added Beautycounter’s conditioner to my hair, except I didn’t add it to my scalp. I started about an inch down from my scalp. Then I rinsed very, very well again. My hair was still a little sticky, but I went with it.
Once I got out of the shower I towel-dried my hair and then I sprayed some tea tree oil and water into my damp hair and then brushed. My scalp feels amazing, my hair isn’t actually sticky, it’s so shiny from the olive oil and it just feels light and clean.
It hasn’t itched. There are no more flakes. And I am a happy girl.
I think I just found a new monthly routine.
