Just got done reading Genesis. For those who know me, I’m not an Old Testament reader, but I’m determined to read the entire bible.
As I finished the last chapter, I couldn’t help but be comforted by Joseph’s words.
So Joseph’s brothers were awful to him. Long story short, Joseph forgave them. Because Joseph is awesome. But I love the way Joseph looked at life.
You see, Joseph had every reason to be upset. He had every reason to be mad at his brothers, but his outlook on the situation is so refreshing.
“Do not fear, for am I in the place of God? As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today.”
How often do people try to hurt us and how often do we go to God asking ‘why’? Why did He let those things happen to us? Why couldn’t He spare us from that hurt?
But if we had Joseph’s attitude then we would understand that even though we may go through hard times, and face things that often seem unfair, He’s always taking care of us. And He doesn’t want us to hurt or suffer, but sometimes, we just have to deal with it because He truly knows best. And He’s got everything under control.
If only we could be like Joseph. If only I could be like Joseph.
What a nice reminder this morning. I love when He does that. :)
