I Love Saturdays.

Today is beautiful. I  love days like today. I love opening windows and doors and not having anything on. No lights, no TVs. It’s just me and kids hanging out. Days like today are nothing short of perfect.

I try to get most of my cleaning done on Fridays. I want to enjoy the weekend. I want Saturday to be the day that I wake up and I don’t have to do anything I don’t want to do. Saturday’s should be spent doing what you love to do. It can be spent going out with your family, or it can be spent sitting on the couch with a good book. Or if you’re like me, you can spend it making and doing all while listening to your kids play together.

My Saturday is no different. This morning I woke up and spent some time reading my bible. I’ve learned that when I allow myself time with God my day is so much better. It can be just a few minutes or if I’m lucky it can be a little longer. There is nothing sweeter to me then to read my bible, sip on my coffee, and watch my babies sleep late into the morning. There is no pressure in the morning, no one I have to impress. It is that time together that I work on this intimate relationship that I so long for with God. It’s where I complain, and pray, and just talk with God.

Today the kids only slept a little later than me. I only spent about 20 minutes reading quietly until 4 little eyes were looking at me. So I fixed Jaxsyn and I some breakfast. I fed Adelaide and then my day officially began. First it started out in the laundry room. I know most people would consider laundry work, but this morning I stripped my diapers. I don’t consider it work because I don’t have to fold or put away, I simply put them in a container and then I’m done. I was hoping to line dry them, but we had a freak rainstorm last night and so the backyard is pretty muddy. I encourage all of you, if you have babies you should cloth diaper. It’s amazing. It’s easier than I could have ever imagined and it’s so much cheaper, and simpler. I’m really wanting to start cloth wipes full time too. I can’t see it adding much more work to my schedule, so why not?

Next, I hung out in the kitchen for a little bit making homemade baby food for Adelaide. I was hoping to skip baby food this time around and go straight to baby led weaning, but for such a tiny person, Adelaide has a huge appetite and so I couldn’t wait another month to start introducing her to foods. She loves eating. All. The. Time. So this morning I was able to make her some strawberry/banana, oatmeal with bananas, and some sweet potatoes. And since I was already in the kitchen cooking for Adelaide, I decided to go ahead and whip up some more lactation cookies for myself. My kitchen smells so good, y’all!

As for the rest of my day, it will be spent working on the blanket I am making for Jaxsyn. I’m not super great at crocheting, but I love it. I love making things. And Jaxsyn is so sweet with his words of encouragement each day. “Mom, it’s beautiful!” “I just love it so much.” “I can’t wait to wrap up in it.” I can’t do anything fancy, but I’m getting better, so who knows, if I get good enough maybe I can start making some for gifts!

You know, I thought that I would hate not having a car, being stuck at home, not ever able to do anything, but to be honest, I’m kind of in love with having no where to go, no obligations, no deadlines. It’s because of that that I am able to wake up in the morning and take my time doing what I want, and what I love. I’m pretty sure it doesn’t get much better than this.

What about you guys? How do you spend your Saturdays? Remember, you could always spend it reading my new book “The ‘B’ Word”! Go check it out on http://www.amazon.com or http://www.barnesandnoble.com. It’s available for Kindle, Kindle App, Nook, and Nook app!
