I freaking love fall. Like a lot. A lot. A lot. I love everything about fall. I love the changing colors, the shorter days, the crisp nights. I love the smell of burning leaves. I love apples and anything made with apples. I love pumpkin and fall desserts. I love everything about fall. And so this was one reason I was really bummed about living in Texas, there seems to be a lack of seasons, fall being one of them.
But I’m making the most of it anyways. Texas weather right now is probably the nicest it’s been since we got down here. It’s gorgeous. The mornings are bright and the air is cool. I have been able to open my windows for a few days now and I haven’t had to run the air condition! I could get used to this. And it almost, ALMOST, makes the dreaded summer months worth it because this reward is oh so sweet!
Even though there seems to be a lacking of fallen leaves of different colors and it really isn’t like the fall I remember, Texas isn’t disappointing. Last night, I went trick or treating in a tank top, and Jaxsyn wore shorts and a t-shirt! This morning we woke up and we weren’t sick. I watched the weather and the next week is in the upper 70’s with lows dipping into the 50’s. There is a chance that this may be perfection, not to mention I haven’t had to buy any winter clothes at all for us. Score.
While I still miss NC and the fair, and the leaves, and the smells, I think I’m starting to appreciate what Texas has to offer. (I know, I can’t believe I just said that either.) And while I adjust to my new home and this new season that I will name falmer, I will be busy baking cookies, and eating pies, just like I used to, except I won’t be complaining about how cold I am. :)
